The Area

Bolulla village dates back to Moorish times when it was a farmstead. It was re-conquered by the Christian troops of King Jaime 1 in 1254. You can still visit the remains of Gartx castle and this is a popular rest stop on one of our many walks through the area. The castle situated at almost 600mts offers breathtaking views over the surrounding area.

Today the village has approx 350 inhabitants and the locals still rely heavily on traditional farming for the majority of their livelihood. Albir Beach & LighthouseFiestas are held each year during August when young and old turn out for 3 days to celebrate “Sant Josep” with traditional parades, music, and partying!

Nearby towns worth visiting include Altea, Albir and the world famous Benidorm, where a visit to the beautiful old town provides a stark contrast with the skyscrapers of today’s resort.

The area also boasts some of the best theme parks in Spain including 3 water parks ‘Aqualandia’, ‘Aqua Natura’ and ‘Mundomar’. At ‘Terra Mitica’ adventure park, you are sure to find a rollercoaster to scare even the bravest and Terra Natura is a safari park featuring animals from all over the world in their natural habitats. There are also 2 further safari parks including the world famous El Arca (The Ark) where rescued animals from all over the world are treated with the love and respect which they deserve. We are happy to assist in organizing trips to any of the parks.
